Success Story Guidelines

Thank you for agreeing to share your story. Read these tips to help you write about your experience.

  • Everyone has an interesting story about how they found a job. No matter how simple the story, someone can benefit from your experience.
  • When writing your story, start with what prompted you to look for a new job. Follow that with how you conducted your job search and what strategies you used. Finish your story with how you eventually found your job.
  • Gear your story toward providing inspiration to job seekers. List any difficult challenges you overcame along the way. Give job seekers specific ideas on what worked and what didn't work in your job search.
  • Be truthful and avoid any false or misleading information. Job seekers will only benefit from your story if it is true.
  • Here are some questions to think about as you write your success story:
    - Did you have a plan for finding a job?
    - Did you relocate? If so, what challenges were caused by moving?
    - Did you change careers? What classes or training courses did you take?
    - Did anyone help you in your job search?
    - Did you use online job boards or social networking tools?
    - Did you learn anything important during your job search?
  • If you want to protect your privacy or the privacy of those in your story, do not use your real name within the story. Leave out any details to shield your identity. If you choose to use a fictitious name, we will add this statement to the end of your story, “Fictitious name is used to protect the privacy of the job seeker."
  • Your name, email address and company name will not be posted. We only ask for this information for tracking purposes and in case we need to contact you.
  • If you want to use real names and include a link to your business, let us know when you submit your story. We will contact you about the details.
  • We reserve the right to edit your story for clarity and length.
  • Do not write derogatory, slanderous or misleading statements about people or companies. Statements such as these will not benefit anyone and will not be posted on this website. See our Terms of Use policy.
